I was delighted when some friends bought me a Tate Modern Membership for my birthday, although I do believe it is a one-visit wonder.
The only reason I will go there now is for the very good lecture series, which is held in quite a comfortable lecture theatre.
However, the Members' Room is an excuse for exclusivity and less comforting than any of the other cafes.
Another note will strike if you stop and listen to the Tate. It really is quite unsettling and urges one to leave! I much prefer The Wapping Pumping Station, which seems to have been handled better. That is an industrial building with integrity and very little intervention.
Somebody needs to congratulate the design team for its achievements.
