London calling

Dome zone designer par excellence Tim Pyne was shocked on arriving at the RIBA London Region architecture awards at the institute last week.

Expecting a celebratory glass of fizz (especially since it was after 18.00), he was offered, like the rest of us, a nice cup of tea or coffee, an offer he had no difficulty in refusing. We chatted in the Dover Castle after the event, discussing his recent interesting notices in the Sunday Times . I told him of his new theme tune following his brief disappearance from the media scene: 'On the trail of the lonesome Pyne'. The pub was full of winners and others, including RRP's Graham Stirk, almost collapsing under the weight of the lead plaque which will have to be fixed to his 88 Wood Street.
