Lintels bond with warehouse style

  • Comment

Lintels were a key factor in the main facade of The Landings apartment development on the Tyne estuary in South Shields. The building retains the curve of the original bonded warehouse, and the decision to install Birtley's Supergalv postgalvanised steel lintels was based on corrosion-protection performance, important because the site is subject to aggressive marine conditions.

Red brick is interspersed with buff brickwork above the arched windows to emphasize further the spirit of the former building.
