Light fantastic

You may be well ahead of me on this, but according to Phillips the next big thing is organic light.

Before the Soil Association writes in, make that Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) light. According to the PR text 'the light source is an extremely thin glass body which emits light over the complete surface.'

It's called 'Lumiblade' and according to OLED-Display.net , 'Royal Philips Electronics is offering lighting designers, architects and artists from all disciplines a unique OLED technology starter kit.' Don't all rush but Kristin Knappstein is the person doling them out. Or just take a peep here.

No this hasn't turned into a products newsletter; it's just that an alternative to fluorescent tubes and the chance to personally get your hands dirty with new tech seem quite good ideas.
