The aj (28.10.99) reports that past riba president David Rock wants nearly 5000 members to stop paying the arb retention fee as they are either retired or abroad. He is quoted as saying: 'They would be less likely to leave the riba as arb subscriptions rise.'
Five thousand less arb subscriptions would mean a loss in income of £275,000, which would mean an increase of about £10 each for the rest of us. Am I missing something or would that mean that the rest of the riba membership would be more likely to leave the riba?
