Swinging London's 'swinging bridge' is a clear signal that it is time to throw away the age-old demarcation between engineers and architects.

As Sir John Egan and others have taken pains to point out, we need to move away from our compartmentalised construction world to one where truly 'integrated solutions' are the norm.

So a word of advice for the sceptics: take time out to re-read Pirsig's Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - you might learn something.
