Learning by example - Dutch developments

  • Comment
Letters

It was interesting to note in J Robotham's letter (aj 17.6.99) that some architects still equate socio-economic deprivation, formal precognition and urban design; in Holland, where young adults thrive in an affordable healthy environment, opinion has long since progressed.

However, whether ideals can be transported between cultures and lessons learnt are perhaps questions for the Urban Task Force which recently took the time to study these Dutch developments more closely and seems to have been impressed by what they saw. In the meantime, perhaps a short visit might yield a pleasant surprise.
