REVIEW

Who's that in the hat at the front of this procession of monks? Le Corbusier on a site visit to La Tourette. During the last decade of Corb's life, Rene Burri took some 3,000 photographs of the architect and his work and a generous selection of them appears in Birkhauser's book.

In the tradition of photographers from the Magnum agency, Burri gets in the thick of things and his shots are informal. Whether supervising staff in his Paris atelier, being mobbed by well-wishers at Ronchamp, or climbing a ladder to the roof of La Tourette, Corb remains debonair throughout.
