Lansbury lessons

One of the first residents of Lansbury Estate (see pages 22 and 24-31) was the Snoddy family tortoise, Tommy. He spent five happy years following the children around the flat, but a foray onto the balcony proved fatal. Poor Tommy was, in fact, decapitated by Mrs Snoddy.

'I was trying to shut the door, and it wouldn't budge, ' she says, 'and then I looked down and saw why.'

Tragic though this tale is, it does show the quality of the original steel frames. The uPVC that has now been fitted is not nearly as tough.
