London and Continental Railways, the builder and operator of the channel tunnel rail link into London, will appoint a development partner for the Kings Cross Central development at the beginning of next month. The move is likely to be followed by the appointment of architects by the chosen developer for the 20ha site, billed as the largest regeneration project in Europe. amec Developments, Argent Group with St George and Lend Lease are the three candidates in the frame for the development contract. So far they have not been asked to produce architectural designs for the regeneration. LCR refused to name the architects being considered by the consortia. The plans for the site aim to create anew neighbourhood, incorporating office, retail, residential and entertainment buildings.
