Ex-PLP director Kathryn Firth has been appointed chief of design at the Olympic Park Legacy Company in east London
Firth will head up the body’s design team which has been created to ensure design is ‘integral’ to the planning and development of the 312 hectare park post-games. The team is responsible for creating design guidelines and overseeing competitions on the site.
She will also oversee the Legacy Communities Scheme which is a masterplan for the park’s development over the next 20 years.
Firth said: ‘Being able to influence one of the most important regeneration projects of the century is a truly extraordinary opportunity for any urban designer.
‘The standards of design that we set out now will set the tone for all future development on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. It is vital that this area is seen as a blueprint for 21st century living and loved by all those who live, work and visit.’
