Jan Kaplicky’s unrealised National Library scheme for Prague has been recreated in miniature as a bus stop in the Czech city of Brno
The mini-version of Kaplicky’s controversial ‘Octopus’ scheme - designed by the Future System’s co-founder two years before his death in January 2009 - was sponsored by drinks giants Pepsi.
It is understood the proposal was backed by Kaplicky’s widow Eliska Fuchsova Kaplicky who also asked Czech-born Eva Jiřičná to help.
Future System’s original scheme for Prague’s new central library ran into heated opposition almost immediately after the blob-like scheme won an anonymous international competition in 2007.
