While your article 'Magna Millennium project shows Wilkinson's steel' (aj 7.1.99) has excellent reproduction of our design proposals, it is somewhat misleading in implying some link between our design and a previous scheme prepared for the site by Clash Associates.
We were appointed in July 98 by the Magna Trust on the basis of a competitive interview following our response to an ojec Notice. We started our design from scratch with a newly appointed team which included Event Communications for the exhibition design, Buro Happold for environmental serivces, Deacon and Jones as qs and Schal as the overall project manager.
Peter Clash was annoyed at losing the project and it is unfortunate, but it is not as a result of our involvement. Our scheme was prepared by a completely different team and should not be confused in any way with any previous designs for the site.
