Autodesk’s Jamie Gwilliam gives his latest update on the world of 3dsMax freebies
- Vyonyx, a creative design visualisation studio, has added to their collection of free cookie cut-outs for commercial use
- Axyz-Design have released a collection of royalty-free ambience sound effects, including those for indoor and outdoor public places. Each track in the library is digitally recorded and is three to four minutes long to reduce the need for looping and editing. Registration is required to download Axyz content but don’t forget that with the ‘creativity extension’ (exclusively for 3dsMax subscription customers), you can now have 100 audio channels running inside 3dsMax/Design. You can download this from the Autodesk subscription web portal
- There is a new renderer on the block called Indigo, aiming to give Mental-Ray a run for its money. Indigo’s marketing claims include Metropolis Light Transport, spectral light simulation, a virtual camera model and physical sky which combine to achieve more realistic results than traditional illumination ray-tracers. Indigo is free for commercial and non-commercial use.
