The Irish government has launched a competition for a £410 million national stadium complex at Abbotstown in County Dublin. It will include an 80,000-seat stadium; a water sports complex, which must be ready for the Special Olympics in 2003; an indoor arena;

and indoor and outdoor training facilities.There will also be a major landscaping commission. The Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland (RIAI) is managing the competition. Between three and seven applicants are expected to be short- listed. Each will receive a £12,000 prize. More details from the RIAI on +3531676 1703.
