THE ICE BAR COMETH
A bar made of ice formed the central focus for architect Dalziel & Pow's 15th anniversary celebration at the Design Museum. The bar, 2700mm wide by 1080mm high, was made from eight slabs of ice fused together. Three facing panels carried the '15' logo in compacted snow; a chipped texture on the surface of the panels around the logo produced a glacier effect as the ice melted - highlighted by blue spotlights placed behind the bar. The four upright supports were decorated with a drilled circular pattern. The bar was built by Icebox and designed by Keith Ware, Chris Hampshire and Rachel Wild at Dalziel & Pow.
