A room with a view, a loo for heroes. This men's wc at the top of the Commerzbank in Frankfurt, designed by Norman Foster and Partners, reveals a bullish sense of humour on the part of the architect; it is also testimony to Foster's life-long appreciation of this particular room. In a recent interview, he reminisced about the awe-inspiring urinals at Manchester Town Hall where he worked as a teenager in the Treasury Department, describing them as 'heroic stuff'.
