interior landscape

A crucial part of Niels Torp's ba building is the interior landscape, carried out by specialist company Greenleaf. Special elements include 'The Olive Grove' just off the central street, with nine Shady Lady olive trees, and an avenue of 16 Ficus nitida trees in the street itself. Each weighing 800kg, and 7m tall, these trees came from a nursery in Florida and were sent to Belgium for acclimatisation before being installed in their special planters. Each planter has a special rotation mechanism, designed by Greenleaf, that allows the tree to be turned by hand to ensure even canopy growth. Greenleaf has also installed climbing tetrastygma to grow up trellises and provide privacy for some of the glass-walled meeting rooms.
