CGL Cometec, a leading manufacturer of internal gutters, has just launched a new gutter system with improved thermal performance. The CGL 2 Energy System (patent pending) is the result of a long-term research and development programme that sought to eradicate thermal bridging and thereby assist architects and specifiers to comply with Part L2 of the English and Welsh Building Regulations, and with Scottish Building Technical Standard J for the Conservation of Fuel and Power.
The gutter is lined with 1.2mm of Sarnafil single-ply membrane, bonded to 0.6mm galvanised steel plate, which is thermally broken at the supports by the use of a proprietary low-thermal conductivity-linkage. This minimises the heat loss at the support position. To assist in our understanding of how the gutter is constructed and performs, CGL Cometec has produced a video animation CD.
