Inspiration and design to produce custom-built bird boxes

  • Comment
focus briefing

London-based architect De Matos Storey Ryan took inspiration and designs from local primary-school children to produce these custom-built bird boxes in Durham. Children aged from seven to 11 worked alongside Angus Morrogh-Ryan to produce an innovative design that would complement the environment. It is hoped the new homes will attract the rare spotted flycatcher, as well as robins, starlings and tawny owls.

The bird boxes will be sited on the banks of the River Wear as 'temporary' pieces of public art.
