A 'design flaw' in a new £87 million hospital in Carlisle, shortlisted for the prime minister's Better Public Building Award, has caused temperatures to rise to 43infinityC. Designed by Llewelyn-Davies, the problem has developed in the glass-roofed foyer of the Cumberland Infirmary.

A hospital spokesman said the problem would be rectified 'in the next few weeks'.
