Architects from the country’s top largest practices gathered to celebrate the annual AJ100 at a rammed event in Covent Garden last week

Among the practices picking up gongs were Make for AJ100 Practice of the Year and Stanton Williams for Fastest Growing Practice.

The number one spot went to Foster and Partners, which topped the table for the third year in a row.

The Contribution to the Profession Award was handed to Julia Peyton-Jones. The Serpentine Galleries director was later interviewed on stage by AJ editor Rory Olcayto.

There was also a surprise speech by Smiljan Radic who talked to the 500-plus crowd about his plans and motivation for this year’s Serpentine Pavilion.
