The Architectural Review celebrated its successful redesign with a summer party at the Molteni & C flagship store on Shaftesbury Avenue, London
The magazine’s historic graphic legacy, which inspired the recent redesign by Alexander Boxill, was brought to life in a show reel. Guests quaffed champagne - especially refreshing on the hottest night of the year - and mingled with the editorial and commercial teams from the AR and its sister publication The Architects’ Journal.
Spotted in the crowd, flutes in hand, were Florian Beigel, Liza Fior, Sean Griffiths, Cany Ash, Robert Sakula, Victoria Thornton, Tom Dyckhoff, Violetta Boxill, Grant Gibson, Matthew Wells, Jonathan Glancey and former AR editor Peter Davey.
‘The redesign was about all the things that make the AR great - great buildings, beautiful photography and clear writing - while reviving the diversity, criticality and enquiry that made it famous,’ said AR editor, Kieran Long.
To mark the occasion Molteni & C offered a ‘Buddy’ unit as a raffle prize. This £1,200 leather and steel hourglass-shaped occasional table, designed by Hannes Wettstein, was won by Lara Gibson of Design for London.
