SIZABLE PREMIUM: Portuguese architect Alvaro Siza has won the lucrative Praemium Imperiale prize for architecture. Established in 1988 by the Japan Arts Association, the Praemium Imperiale gives prizes of 15 million yen (£65,000) in each of five categories. The other winners are Richard Attenborough (theatre and film), American artist Robert Rauschenberg (painting), Israeli artist Dani Karavan (sculpture) and Russian composer Sofie Gubaidulina (music).
