WELSH WIN: The riba is to run the competition to design a new home for the Welsh National Assembly, to be built at the historic Pierhead in Cardiff. It will be linked to Crickhowell House and provide the chamber and associated facilities. Secretary of State for Wales Ron Davies announced the move, and that he has resolved a £120 million pfi scheme to build roads, 300 houses and major private development in the Bute Avenue area of the city. The waterfront site for the assembly has been secured thanks to the deal with City Link Consortium.
