A proposal by a British architect which treats the idea of 'greening' in the most literal way possible has won second place in an urban-design competition called 'Future Visions of Kyoto'. Jason Griffiths, of Gino Griffiths Architects, submitted a proposal called '5% Off City' which included 'greening' medium-rise buildings by growing plants hydroponically on their facades. The competition was judged by Rem Koolhaas.
