  • Comment

London's largest new pier has won planning permission. The 90m, three- berthed design by David Marks Julia Barfield has won planning permission, will be built by the Millennium Wheel Company and will open before the Millennium Wheel above is completed in 2000. The steel structure, with pontoons and fabric covers, will be the main stop for travellers boating to the Millennium Dome. Architect David Marks said: 'It will have two functions; a berth for boats and protection for the wheel from being struck by errant boats.'
