Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners is running an exhibition on industrial design in the workplace. 'Fusion' will feature examples from Waterloo's international terminal and the ft printworks. The travelling exhibition, launched in Zurich this March, runs at Wapping Pumping Station from 9 September to 3 October.
Stanton Williams has won a 'celebration of excellence' award for a new wing to Compton Verney, a Grade-I listed country house near Stratford upon Avon. It includes top-lit gallery, book shop and cafe. The award was from Stratford District Council.
The DETR has launched a consultation paper on speeding up planning appeal decisions. Proposals include disregarding post-enquiry submissions and stricter time limits. Comments must be made no later than 30 October. The paper is from DETR free literature, PO Box 236, Wetherby, W Yorks LS23 7NB.
Building work on Robert Adam Architects £9 million Sackler Library in Oxford is under way. The design of a 25m-diameter rotunda, rising through five storeys, will contain art history, classical and humanities books for the Ashmolean Museum. The library is due to be finished by 2000.
