in brief: Georgian Group lambasts Bristol planners

  • Comment

The Georgian Group has made a bruising attack on Bristol planners for post-war facadism and the widespread demolition of Georgian buildings. Its new 70-page report on 'the second city of Georgian England' criticises post-war redevelopment which 'scarred Bristol horribly' and destroyed its coherence. 'It is shocking that some of the city's finest buildings are derelict - and have been for years,' it says, calling for the council's £100,000 budget for urgent works to be doubled. The report costs £4.50, and is available from tel: 0171 387 1720.
