in brief: Benn tries to intervene over Pimlico

Labour veteran Tony Benn is the latest figure to become embroiled in the fight to save Pimlico School. Benn greeted parents as they came out of a meeting at which they voted to call upon Jack Straw to resign as chair of governors for sanctioning the building's demolition. Benn was not allowed into the meeting and tried in vain to see Straw afterwards.
