  • Comment

Alsop Architects has won the competition to design the new £25 million arts complex for Goldsmiths College in New Cross, south London. Alsop beat off competition from Allies and Morrison, Christine Hawley Architects, Dominique Perrault Architects, Sn hetta and Spence and Rem Koolhaas'Office for Metropolitan Architecture.

Alsop states that these images are 'digital sketches'which are 'just enough to talk about our approach without frightening people too much with a final design.' The sketches include a variety of dogs - which represent the students. The building will include a raised horizontal structure, which will contain the studios and below this there will be public space where works of art will be displayed.Work on site will begin immediately, with completion scheduled for September 2003.
