  • Comment

Manchester-based Ian Simpson Architects has landed the €30 million project to overhaul and redesign the Queen Elisabeth Hall in Antwerp, Belgium

Working with acousticians Kirkegaard Associates, the practice saw off an impressive international field of architects - including finalists Caruso St John, Robbrecht and Daem and Office DA from Boston, America - to win the competition.

The new design aims to create ‘a world class concert hall’ and conference facility for the KMDA and the the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra.

‘The Queen Elizabeth Hall should stand as a public, innovative place,’ said Ian Simpson. ‘The concert itself is a bit smaller for better acoustics and natural daylight penetration.’
