How green is it to encourage car use?

The account of Blair Associates' headquarters for Halliburton Brown & Root (AJ 26.2.98) described the client's aspirations for a 'green' building.

Recent research has shown that car commuting is a major player in the greenhouse gas and energy equations. With an arguably landhungry plot ratio of less than 0.5 and 560 car parking spaces for two buildings (gross floor area of 1900 m2 ), presumably providing workplaces for between 900 and 1200 staff, it would be interesting to hear from the project team whether they believe their client's aspirations for 'green' credentials were met.
