RIBA President Marco Goldschmied wants to treble the number of honorary fellows admitted to the institute in a bid to increase its wider support. Goldschmied wants to increase the awards to around thirty a year. He divided honorary fellows into three categories: superstars such as Richard Meier, retired architects for whom the fellowship is a kind of lifetime achievement award, and active architects.
