Two cheers for Bill Thomas! (Letters, aj 2.9.99)

He gets the other one when his practice, as official advisor to Westminster City Council on the disastrous pfi proposal for Pimlico School, joins with David Rock, Colin Stansfield Smith, Richard Rogers, Alan Baxter, Max Fordham et al, in recommending that the council 'might be better to use their surplus resources, energy and indeed skill to adapt what we've already got rather than adding to the cancerous 'waste' mountain and starting again'.

Rob Hughes, architect and par-ent governor, Pimlico School
