Hit-list aims to simplify disciplinary procedures

  • Comment
riba council news

The riba aims to draw up a hit-list of reasons for outlawing architects from riba membership.

The list, to be compiled by the disciplinary committee, may include members jailed for crimes, mentally unsound members, those struck off or suspended from the arb register, or those expelled from an overseas register or institute.

The proposals, to come before the council in July, are aimed at radically simplifying the riba disciplinary procedures. The rias has agreed to refer all complaints to the arb in the first instance. This recognises that at present members risk being tried three times, by the incorporation, the riba and the arb, said the report by Jim Cuthbertson, riba disciplinary committee chairman.
