Hidden treasure on the Bijlmermeer Estate

  • Comment

The Bijlmermeer Estate (p40, aj 3.6.99) also has an interesting piece of Herman Hertzberger - a memorial to those that lost their lives (when the event that you illustrated in 2.12.92 took place). The memorial is illustrated in the book Monumental Builders by Edwin Heathcote which the aj reviewed recently. I am passing this information on as many who visit the Bijlmermeer Estate, and Hertzberger buildings, may miss it.

P.S. We need another landscape special - last week's issue is a classic on the architectural misuse of grass.
