BUILDING Wales National Velodrome, Newport, Gwent

ARCHITECT Milson Architects of Crickhowell

CLIENT Newport City Council

PRODUCT Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tube heating system

CHARACTERISTICS A total of 16 burners, each with an output of 46kW, were installed at 10m above the steeply banked track to provide background heat in the 7,500m 2 open arena and seating area at a constant 18°C and 20°C respectively. Seating area warmed by three 34kW Ambi-Rad linear radiant tubes

SPECIAL PROPERTIES Radiant heating prevents condensation forming on the underside of the roof by taking the chill off the objects it warms.

Five separately controlled zones - one for the seating/spectator areas and four for the track - allow only the sections being used to be heated
