Heathrow Terminal 5 by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners

Heathrow International Airport, London

The construction of a fifth terminal at London Heathrow is critical to the airport's continuing position as the busiest in Europe. The site covers some 250 hectares and has a projected capacity of 30 million passengers annually.

The terminal includes an automated baggage handling system, retail facilities, large lounges and 18 aircraft stands. The roof is curved with huge expanses of glazing allowing natural light to flood the interior. Passengers are guided through the building in a logical progression from arrival point to embarkation by following the span of the roof.
