[First look] Hawkins\Brown has taken the wraps of this new student union building for Coventry University
Designed as a space focussing on ‘student’s informal learning and well-being’, the Coventry Hub building is part of a bid by the university to attract and retain students in the competitive higher education market.
The ‘24/7’ facility provides learning, social and entertainment space for up to 1,000 students at a time. A student union bar, faith centre and event space are also included.
A rooftop terrace offers views of Basil Spence’s 1962 Coventry Cathedral which is nearby.
Hawkins\Brown’s L-shaped building was designed to ‘strengthen’ circulation across the campus and creates a new service yard for the university.
