Hawkins/Brown has developed plans to transform a car park into a 'town square for Dalston', complete with a high-tech version of traditional market stalls. The North East London site lies immediately behind the Bradbury Street Youth Enterprise Centre, an earlier Hawkins/Brown project (aj 29.5.97). Phase 1, due to start on site next week, includes a terrace of 10 prefabricated galvanised metal pods along the rear of the youth centre, providing space for shops and workshops. This phase should be completed within 16 weeks for a contract value of £274,000. Hackney Co- operative Developments is the client. Additional funding has been provided by the Single Regeneration Budget, European Regional Development Funds and English Partnerships.
