Merging the functional demands for smoke/fire-resistant glazed screens and the aesthetic requirements of the client, FendorHansen helped protect and improve a York office project at Toft Green. The challenging fire strategy of Jarvis Facilities demanded that non-fire-rated, fire-rated and smoke-control screens were installed, all to meet BS7346. A late design change meant that some smokeresistant glazed screens had to incorporate venetian blinds. FendorHansen concealed the wires of the electrically operated blinds safely in the suspended ceiling.
