A challenge to blend high-quality contemporary architecture into a new retail development in of York has been met by FendorHansen with its involvement in Davygate, a project that had to be sympathetic to the historic surroundings. FendorHansen Swingline architectural mild steel fixed glazing profiles achieved slim sightlines to the external glazed shopfronts on the main elevations. The development, by main contractor John Mowlem of Leeds for Standard Life, with architect Panter Hudspith of London, shows how new can co-exist with Victorian and medieval designs.
