Two different facade technologies were designed and provided by specialist fenestration engineers MagHansen which worked with Newcastle Airport and Sir Robert McAlpine on the new £27 million passenger terminal. The project entailed creating and installing a window and curtain wall system plus a structural glazed elevation and canopies that would withstand high wind pressures.

For the £1 million contract MagHansen incorporated its SSG cap structural system for the airside elevation, a very robust system which is easily cleaned and acts as a highly effective barrier against the weather.
