Ground-breaking millennial projects

  • Comment

Left and above: Ground-breaking millennial projects neared fruition this week in Greenwich, South London. The New Millennium Experience Company unveiled the 'Rest' zone for the Dome this week (left), designed by the Richard Rogers Partnership. It will feature a bridge passing through the structure and offer a 'wonderfully contemplative environment in which to relax and reflect.' Other zones, page 12. And Chetwood Associates' new Sainsbury's on the peninsula - which aims to cut energy consumption by up to 50 per cent, is under construction, already displaying its striking roof. The store will use passive ventilation, natural light through the windows in the saw-tooth roof for the sales area, underfloor heating, and wind turbines and solar panels to illuminate store signage at night.
