Nicholas Grimshaw & Partners is poised for expansion after buying up a new office building in central London.

The practice has bought a four-storey block which adjoins its current Conway Street premises and is planning to refurbish it as well as build a one storey extension on part of the building.

The new expanded premises will house 140 staff rather than the existing 110. The move will not lead to any immediate staff recruitment but points to planned growth at the practice which currently employs 54 qualified architects.

Staff will begin moving into the new building in the next week or so with 34 people relocating from the practice's leased offices on Tottenham Court Road. The move unifies the practice's staff under one roof for the first time in several years. Refurbishment work will be completed in August.
