Granary Wharf wins RIBA Yorkshire Building of the Year Award

  • Comment

The three practices behind Leeds’ Granary Wharf development have received the White Rose Award for their respective buildings

Candle House by Careyjones, City Inn by Allies and Morrison and Waterman’s Place by CZWG Architects won the award in recognition of their contribution to the canalside development.

The Granary Wharf project features residential buildings, hotels and cafes while also retaining 0.8 hectares of open space for markets and events, plus new boaters’ facilities and restored ‘graving’ docks.

Emma England, regional director for Riba Yorkshire, said: ‘These schemes all show that superior quality developments stand out and will continue to be built despite the current economic climate. That we have so many awards to present in 2010 is testament to the extremely high standard of projects that have completed this year.’

Silver medals were given to BDP’s Navigation Warehouse in Wakefield and P&HS Architects’ Regional Agricultural Centre in Harrogate.
