Goldschmied speaks

  • Comment

At his inaugural address on Tuesday night, riba president Marco Goldschmied was expected to suggest that the planning system needs to be brought up to speed with an environment changing rapidly because of the Internet and other advances. The riba said Goldschmied's address would be largely based on a speech he gave to the Urban Design Alliance's annual conference late last month, in which he also predicted that bookshops and even foodstores might join banks in disappearing from urban high streets with the rise of home shopping and deliveries. The riba said it had commissioned a tv company to film the speech.
