RIBA president Marco Goldschmied has rejected the possibility of an extra year in office saying that he is eager to get back to work at the Richard Rogers Partnership. The RIBA's managing board had invited him to stay on as an 'outgoing president'. 'For professional and constitutional reasons it would be wrong to attempt a third year of this presidency, ' he said.
'Whatever the apparent merits to others, I can't see any merit in it.' But council agreed double the length of a president's term from the next appointment onwards. In an effort to increase continuity each future president will serve one year as presidentelect, two as president and one as past-president.
