GMA unwraps 'walled garden' house

  • Comment

Graham Mitchell Architects has completed this curved house within an historic walled garden near Aberdeen, Scotland

The 230m² house takes its form from an arced stone wall which used to enclose an historic orchard.

Arranged in a double crescent, the house is split into two units: a single-storey block housing the kitchen and living room which overlooks the garden and boasts 3.2m high glazing on three sides; and a two-storey brick block containing three bedrooms to the rear.

The entrance to the house is located in the space between the two blocks.
